SAFETY & EFFICIENCY: EXPLOSION
PROTECTED MOTORS.
A spark, a hot surface or a static charge; the smallest triggers are often responsible for the worst industrial accidents of all: explosions. In potentially explosive working environments, including grain mills, for example, it must be ensured that technical equipment such as motors are protected and follow certain guidelines. Does your operating environment require an ATEX solution? We would be happy to advise you personally on our range of EX motors.

EXPLOSION PROTECTION FOR ELECTRIC MOTORS
ATEX is an abbreviation for ATmosphères EXplosibles (potentially explosive atmospheres) and stands for a European Union directive in the field of explosion protection. Sudden explosions caused by uncontrolled combustion can occur when air comes into contact with a flammable substance such as gas, mist or dust. Wherever oxygen, fuel and an ignition source can come into contact, the properties of motors must be adapted to the environment. The ATEX directive has standardised and summarised the previously established standards and directives of the individual EU member states. With the two directives "ATEX Product Directive 2014/34/EU" and "ATEX Operating Directive 1999/92/EC", the new regulation was integrated into the European standards. Products that are intended for use in potentially explosive environments, such as our ATEX electric motors, have since been labelled with uniform safety standards and the distinctive ATEX logo. How high the explosion hazard may be for a motor used is defined in the so-called Ex zones. ATEX motors are also equipped with thermal winding protection to prevent unauthorised temperatures.
AVAILABLE MOTORS WITH ATEX DESIGN
Zone 22 comprises those areas in which an explosive atmosphere is rarely expected to occur briefly due to whirled up dust.
You will also find flameproof motors in our range.
